Sodium hydroxide

It would be all right to use sodium hydroxide solution instead of table salt for the upper layer, however if you do, when you turn the cup over, the solution that spills from the cup makes your hands slimy, which makes the experiment difficult to carry out, so we decided to put the sodium hydroxide solution in the bottom cup.
